This Bloomsday, we decided to start the day properly with a dip in the Forty Foot in Sandycove at 8am as stately, plump Buck Mulligan does in the first chapter of Ulysses. We then went up to the Martello tower and listened to some readings before going in search of sustenance, which turned out to be Damn Good Cakes and coffee.
After an Irish breakfast for lunch, we headed into town for a little Bloomsday stroll. We popped into Sweny's Chemist, just like Leopold Bloom does in the Lotus Eaters episode and were welcomed with Walsh's Whiskey and a song. Passing by the National Library from the Scylla and Charybdis episode, we proceeded onto Davy Byrne's Pub which was busy with Bloomsday revelers.
We ended the day with some drinks celebrating 10 years of celebrating Bloomsday in Dublin in the company of our former partners in crime, Jessica and James. We hope you had a lovely Bloomsday!
